Dear VetPartners Colleague,
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of the industry’s most passionate professionals. Roger Cummings, CVPM, of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, died on Friday, July 9, of natural causes at the age of 57.
A long-time member and Past President of VetPartners, Roger was one of the first veterinary practice management consultants. He held many notable and influential positions throughout his career, including Consultant for Brakke Practice Management Group and Advisory Board Member to Veterinary Economics and Firstline. He was also a sought-after speaker at veterinary conferences before retiring from consulting several years ago.
Among his numerous accomplishments, he received the following awards:
2010 – VetPartners Pioneer Professional Award
2006 – Veterinary Hospital Managers Association’s Ralph Duke Award
1997 – Veterinary Hospital Managers Association’s Practice Manager of the Year
But what we will miss most was Roger’s affable way, his hearty laugh and his ability to make you feel truly appreciated. Roger cared deeply for animals and the veterinary profession and we extend our prayers and sympathies to all who loved him.
Roger is survived by his partner of 37 years, David Fuchshuber; parents, John and Ruby Cummings; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Brad Costello of Iowa Park; best friends, Doug Davis of Fort Worth and Nancy Lickey of Bridgewater, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Pamela Cummings of Duncan, OK; three nieces; one nephew; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
The industry lost a pioneer, and we lost a friend.
